The minimum qualification for this role is a recognised counselling training to diploma level of above, BACP accreditation or registration of BACP working towards accreditation.

The successful candidates will be answering Employee Assistance Programme calls, providing callers with immediate counselling support as well as information, guidance or referral to in-house professionals or external experts for progression. There is the opportunity to provide telephone or digital structured counselling in addition to this role. Typically callers will present looking for support with issues such as bereavement, illness, relationship, life events, work stressors or mental ill health.
Hours: Variable – Flexible with a minimum of 18 hours per week
EAP Telephone Helpline Counsellors are principally responsible for making clinical decisions based on the callers presenting issues to ensure positive outcomes are achieved by encouraging the most suitable clinical / emotional intervention. It is essential that candidates have experience of conducting assessments with clients over the telephone, using validated clinical measures or have a willingness to use these. Proficiency in IT skills is required including the use of Microsoft Office packages, databases and electronic record systems is required.
