We’re delighted to have scooped a Highly Commended Award in the ‘Provider initiative of the year’ at the Rehabilitation First Awards 2016 and share the news with you here:
The award was given in recognition of their outstanding work with Carnival UK, which operates 11 ships for the P&O and Cunard luxury cruise liner service employing 14,000 crew.
Since 2014 RehabWorks has been providing remote Musculoskeletal Health and Psychological Therapy Services to the crew while they are at sea, something which no other provider has ever attempted before; as a result they were able to support a reduction in sickness absence for musculoskeletal and mental health conditions by over 60% from 2014 to 2015.
The judges felt that RehabWorks’ innovative and collaborative approach demonstrated their ability to adapt to a client’s unique work environment and produced significant results.
RehabWorks has won a number of plaudits in recent years for its work in occupational health, complex case management and prevention programmes. With clients spanning leading private and public sector organisations, RehabWorks has a number of senior staff on industry boards such as the Case Management Society of the UK, Vocational Rehabilitation Association and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health.
Mark Armour at RehabWorks commented:
“One in four people in the UK are affected by common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. “
“There is evidence that work focused Psychological Therapy support can accelerate the rehabilitation of an absent employee, even stop absenteeism saving the organisation money in the long run. For Carnival UK this has proved to be the case and the success of the collaboration has been recognised at the Rehabilitation First Awards.”
“Congratulations to our RehabWorks teams for all their hard work in successfully developing this innovation.”
